Is This Normal?

One of the hardest parts of helping mom or dad age is that changes rarely happen all at once.

Usually, it starts with:

  • a feeling

  • a repeated story

  • a missed medication

  • a strange moment

  • or the growing sense that something feels different.

The difficult part is figuring out:

“Is this normal aging… or something more?”

Most families live in that uncertainty for a long time.

Not because they are ignoring things.

Because aging, stress, grief, medical issues, and memory changes often overlap in ways that feel emotionally confusing and difficult to explain.

This section is designed to help families better understand:

  • common concerns

  • emotional realities

  • behavioral changes

  • and the difficult “in-between” stage many people experience with mom or dad.

You do not need immediate answers.

But paying attention matters.
